Online Omaha High Poker Omaha High Poker is played much like Texas Holdem Poker (best poker hand wins the pot), but there are a couple of important differences. Each player is dealt 4 hole cards before the first betting round and each player must make his best poker hand with two hole cards and three cards from the board. In Omaha Poker, it's important to remember that you must use two and only two of your hole cards to make your best poker hand. With four hole cards, each player is looking at 6 different poker hands. Omaha players love the additional challenge of this poker game and you can play free or play for money at Empire Poker. Online Omaha High/Low Split Poker This poker game, sometimes called Omaha 8, is played just like Omaha High Poker, but the high/low split rule makes this poker game even more interesting. The pot is split between the best high poker hand and the best low poker hand. The ace is the highest card in the deck and it is also the lowest card. The ace counts as one for the low poker hand. It's important to remember that low doesn't always get there. To be eligible to win the low half of the pot, a player must have two hole cards and three board cards that are eight or less. If low doesn't get there, the high poker hand wins the entire pot. The pots in Omaha high/low split poker are usually large by comparison and a single player can win both the high and the low. This is often done with a wheel, an ace,2,3,4,5 straight. The straight can be the high poker hand and it's also the nut low (the lowest possible poker hand). Omaha High/Low Split Poker gives more value to all those small cards. Learning this game is best done at the free tables with no risk. Play at the real money tables when you're ready. Online 7 Card Stud Poker Seven Card Stud Poker is the game that most poker players learned first and it needs very little explanation. Each player is dealt two hole cards and one upcard before the first betting round. The next three cards are dealt face up with a round of betting after each card and the last card is dealt face down followed by a final round of betting. There are five betting rounds in Seven Card Stud Poker (4 rounds of betting in holdem and Omaha). Each player has his own hand (no community cards) and each player can see the other players' upcards. The best poker hand wins the pot. Online 7 Card Stud High/Low Split Poker The high/low split rule makes this traditional poker game even more interesting. The rules for splitting the pot are the same as Omaha High/Low Split Poker. You need five cards that are 8 or less to be eligible to win the low half of the pot. The ace is the highest card in the deck and it counts as 1 for low.
Some Standard Rules Of Poker A maximum of four bets(one bet and three raises) are allowed for each betting round. The term "cap" is used to describe the final raise in a round since betting is then capped and no more raises are allowed. Once capped, players will have the option of calling or folding only. Folding can be done at any stage of the game. The action of folding shows the player's cards being moved to the dealer. Folded players are not eligible to win any of the money in the pot. A player also has the option to check or pass without placing a bet. This option is not always available to the player, and depends on the actions taken by the previous player in the hand. The player must equal the amount of the bets placed by any other players for each round in the hand. Poker is typically played "table stakes", meaning that a player cannot get additional funds from the cashier while in the midst of a poker hand. The table stakes rule has an application called the "all in" rule, which states that a player cannot be forced to forfeit a hand because the player does not have enough chips to call a bet. A player who does not have enough chips to call a bet is declared "all in". The all in player is eligible to win the portion of the pot up to the point of his final wager (the main pot). All further action involving other players goes into a "side pot". The all in player is not eligible to win any of the money in the side pot. If more than one player goes all in at different times during the play of the hand, there will be more than one side pot. All players are expected to make their decision and play within 30 seconds. After 10 seconds, a timer countdown will be displayed on the table for 20 seconds. After that, the player's hand will be folded unless the player has been disconnected. If a player becomes disconnected during the play of a hand, the player will be given an additional 20 seconds to reestablish the connection. If the player cannot reconnect, the player will be declared "all in".
